Serious danger of second lockdown in Oldham

by samalhamdani on 12 August, 2020

Increases in both the number and rate of positive tests in Oldham for coronavirus mean that the town is in danger of going into a second lockdown unless the situation improves quickly.

The latest figures show that the increase in cases seen originally in predominantly younger age groups and large households – particularly care homes and large Asian/Asian British households – has now broadened, with significant numbers of positive tests in the 40–60 age range.

As such, the Council is sending a clear message – limit your contact with other households, and ensure you are doing everything you can to minimise the chances of infection.

Specific targeted messaging, advertising, leaflets and door-to-door communication is taking place in all hotspot areas, but if you are not receiving that, do not take that as a signal that you are OK – we must all act together if we are to avoid a second lockdown.

Please ensure that you are doing everything that you can to stay safe yourself, and to ensure that others stay safe.
