Local team helps get the lights turned on (or off)

The local Liberal Democrat team has identified a series of street lights across Grotton, Springhead and Lees which have either been not working, or staying on during the day, getting them fixed.

Parish Councillor Barbara Beeley identified six lights which had been left burning throughout the day, despite the fact that the PFI contract is supposed to automatically identify these so that they can be fixed.

Meanwhile, Parish Councillor Richard Darlington, local campaigner Mark Kenyon and Borough Councillor followed up on a series of lights which were not working, ensuring that they were fixed in days.

Mark said: “In some cases, these had been reported, but not followed up. We’re well aware of the difficulties there have been during the coronavirus situation, but we also need to make sure that these are fixed: broken street lights make it difficult, and even less safe, for residents to go out.”

Sam added: “We are already following up with the PFI contractor to find out why the lights that were staying on had not been identified and fixed, as is supposed to happen automatically. We have seen the same issue in other parts of the borough, and it needs to be sorted out.”

If you have any problems with street lights near you that are either not working or burning during the day, please let the local team know, and we will ensure they are addressed. You can email Mark Kenyon, Barbara Beeley, Richard Darlington or Sam Al-Hamdani.
